Is your dog acting unusual? perhaps he or she seems overly anxious or depressed. Stress is more common in dogs than you may think. Even worse... stress can negatively impact your dog's health. Although they are commonly attributed to disease or food intolerance, gastrointestinal issues such as diarrhea and constipation can also be brought by stress caused anxiety. Dogs don't go on fasts or diets like we do, so if your pet suddenly loses interest in food or stops eating altogether, it could be due to stress.

Human interaction, something simple as petting may be an effective means of reducing the cortisol stress response of dogs who are predisposed to stress.

Until now the only option was to change the dog's diet, which largely involved guesswork, and may be stressful and upsetting to the dog. The problem of course, was in deciding what foods cause the problem. That problem is now scientifically addressed by our test.

Directions for Collecting the Hair Sample

Other than water, ensure that your dog has fasted for at least 2 hours.

1. Take a small hair sample anywhere on the dog. The best places to sample are respectively the shoulders, flank and forehead although any body hair is functionally suitable. We require about 90 to 120 hairs which is about the total diameter of a pencil. Hair should be snipped as close as possible to the skin, and if long enough, hold it together with the supplied clip and card. Place the hair sample in the supplied paper specimen envelope. In the case of shorthaired dogs if less than a half inch in length of hair can be obtained, two samples should be taken.

2. Place the specimen envelopes and forms in the preaddress envelope and send it to our laboratory for testing.

Your Report (Please view our Sample Report below)

We do not diagnose, we report the findings. The test reports you receive will indicate any of the listed food products for which your dog has shown an antibody predisposition for food sensitivity or intolerance. The stress analysis will specify if your dog indicates a predisposition to elevated stress, a situation that you, the owner, can help ease.
